Bullring - Birmingham Brass Band

This record was featured on the blog in its early days, I am not sure if was ever reloaded after the demise of  DivShare, quite a few tracks were never reinstated. I was playing a Carter Lewis CD - My World Fell Down, I noted that it had a demo track of Birmingham Brass Band, the Carter Lewis version is a demo and was never released as a single.

This week saw another visit to Epsom Hospital with another infection, this time I was in and out within the hour and I have a referral to St Hellier Hospital in Carshalton, Transport For London have started running a bus from Epsom to St. Hellier Hospital, an oddity Epsom is in Zone six for busses but not for trains.

Saucepanlids - Tiny Little People

Just when you think it's safe, a record like this is released, this 1983 record was released twice the first was on the "Big Top Records" then on the "CBS" label, thankfully both records disappeared without trace.

Car Parking at Sainsbury's Kiln Lane Epsom

I always have to do some shopping on a Wednesday, the car park was not busy, someone managed to take up four spaces, how would they have coped if the car park was busy, a number of years ago in one of the Croydon car parks someone had parked their car in the same way taking up four spaces, there the car had a parking ticket for not parking in a designated parking space.

Emily - I've Fallen In Love With Alvin, Polly Puppet - Puppeteer

I have no details about this 1960 American release. The A" side is not on You Tube however the instrumental  "B" side Hoppin' With Emily is, the "B" side is performed by the Champs.

A 1961 American release again another record I have no information about, I brought both this and the Emily record out of pure curiosity as I had nether heard of either artists or the songs.
This like the Emily record has an Instrumental "B" side, Both sides of this record were posted on You Tube in January 2023 alas the caption says the Video is no longer available as the account has been terminated, that sounds familiar!.

Continuity Problem

Last night I was watching a repeat of "Call The Midwife" in one scene some one asks for Sandie Shaw - Puppet On A String, they put a Decca Tri Centre on the record player and Sandie Shaw - Puppet On A String starts playing, I thought Sandie Shaw was on the PYE label, If I recall the actor had a Ted Heath record in her hand just before the request.

After I posted the original post, I recalled that countries like South Africa, Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) & Zambia continued producing records with Tri-Centres well into the late 1960's under licence from Decca who were the major record producer in the three countries, I would buy these when I saw them as curios. The scans are from 45Cat.

Estelle - In The Year 2000

Estelle full name Estelle Bennett was one of the Ronettes, this solo recording was released in 1968, it does not seem to have had a UK release, I first came across the recording on the CD "Still Dead - The Grim Reapers Juke Box" .

Herbert Floog - Ballad Of The Crutty Men

Having already lost interest in the forthcoming election, thinking it maybe another time I just write on my polling form None Of The Above, thoughts went back the the elections in 1964 the Goons issued a LP How Not To Win An Election or Lose By Much, another rarer LP issued for the same election was Vote For Us, my copy came from New Zealand, and is credited to Herbert Floog, the UK issue is credited as 7 comedians, 6 who are not Peter Sellers and the 7th one isn't either, I used to put an occasional LP track on the blog I put one from the Vote For Us LP on the blog, someone contacted me realising if I had that track I must have the LP, they had been searching for a copy for years and not found a copy, I told him I had a copy, mine being a New Zealand issue, it was then that he told me it is a very rare LP by Leon Rossington he also wanted to know where the Herbert Floog came from, I said it's the name used for the artist when it was issued in New Zealand. I ended up loading the tracks onto the server and sending him the links where they were put on another blog, the only time I ever uploaded an LP

My copy picked up for £1 plus I also got a number of other Leon Rossington LP's at the same time, unfortunately on my copy in its history some one was looking at the record and had a cigarette in their mouth and a small piece of hot ash landed on the record and damaged it, the cleaning program I used managed to restore most of the damage. A bit more digging it looks like the whole LP and many more of Leon Rossington's tracks are available for download.

Derby Day

One day I always try to avoid going into Epsom is Derby day, to  get to the Race Course until the Derby all the roads are one way up to the downs after the Derby all the roads switch to the opposite direction. Many years ago I worked nights and would be coming home between 07.00 -   08.30 part of my route Tolworth. Ruxley Lane & Chessington road I would be behind the open top busses going to the Derby, some of the passengers looked to be well oiled, I often wondered did they get to see the Derby.

Well this year I had to go into Epsom I had another bout of Cystitis, so it was a trip to Epsom Hospital, as I went through Epsom on the Bus at about 08.10 it was almost deserted, in the Hospital I had a Blood test, urine sample, then at 10.30 I was discharged with anti biotics, the  annoying thing was that I had been given a medication to stop me getting any further occurrences of  Cystitis, the busses leaving Epsom were almost empty the ones arriving were packed, the pubs were very busy, after the racing has finished Epsom closes, also the pubs in the surrounding area used to close Derby Day evening.

I can now post and edit posts on my new PC I was something quite minor in the end on the new PC it had defaulted to my Gmail address, on the other PC,s the default is my BT   address.

Womenfolk - The Maybe Song

After posting the Dreamers version of The Maybe Song here is the Womenfolk version, this version was never issued as a single, all the Womenfolk tracks have been remastered and are available to buy for download in America only, a few Womenfolk tracks have appeared on CD.
