Memory Finaly Sorted

 

The failed 8TB SSD drive was returned to Samsung for repairs, it had a minor problem on its journey back, as the consignment it was in was turned back at Customs, it cleared Customs the next day, I had a message saying it would be delivered late in the day, it turned up at 09.00. The failed unit had been replaced with a new one. I had almost finished downloading the tracks from the original drives 2 x 4TB, 1 x 1TB and a 500GB when the drive failed, the download has been re started the 1TB & 500GB have been downloaded, the 2 x 4TB drives I have found it better to download it in chunks of about 25,000 tracks, even then it can take over 24 hours.   I also acquired a 4TB SSD drive at a reasonable price, for use a a general drive.

The 20TB HDD drive also failed, I went into Argos and was told they could not send it back for repairs as it had been posted to me, they could refund me the cost of the unit I took the refund and ordered anew one when I got home, in the 3 weeks since I brought the first one the price had gone up by £109, I was told in my local computer shop that the price of computer memory has sky rocketed due to the demand of it for AI, I noticed that some people were selling 4TB SSD memory for over £1,000.

During the week I had to go to the Pet Shop in Epsom, on the way out someone asked me if I could do a jump start, I said yes and he was most surprised that I had jump leads in the car, my son had battery problems with his car, I had never bothered to take them out of the car after he had the battery changed, when the battery cover was removed I noticed the white fur on the battery clamp and on the positive terminal, and also down the side of the battery, the battery was changed a couple of years ago, at its next service I was informed that the battery was leaking and needed replacing, the lady on the phone was not happy when I told her that it was a new battery fitted at the last service, saying it will be changed under warranty, it is a Varta battery and I hate Varta batteries (they always seem to leak), I used to watch YouTube videos of someone repairing old PC's, the PC's had often been standing around for a number of years and without fail every one that had a Varta battery the battery had leaked, none of the other makes of battery leaked. My car is booked in for the end of the month for a battery check.
