Computer Failure

The power supply for my PC decided to give up the ghost a couple of weeks ago, it died on the Friday night, my local computer shop does not open on a Saturday so it was Monday before I could get it in for repairs, I was using my stand by PC for some reason the settings are different, as the two posts I started did not register on the blog, it also still shows my 'Forgotten Vinyl' blog, I opened the blog and the posts were still there the links had gone as the server account was closed, the site was used for the budget labels such as Embassy, Cannon, Big Six & Avenue, for some reason long forgotten I put the Topo Gigio and Wilfred Lawson records on the site, much to my surprise the links to the Topo Gigio were still working and the link to the 'b' side of the Wilfred Lawson record was still active, I may have been testing different servers before I decided to go with DivShare, later DivShare had some problems and then just disappeared, I think I lost two tracks some people lost irreplaceable recordings, the two I lost I must have deleted them accidentally from the back up memory, I still had the 45, so I redid the recording, I don't think I ever replaced all the lost links.

The picture is of a young Biscuit, she will be 5 years old next Sunday 16th February, the Rainy Days money box was started when a Planet Industrials  announced that they were going to produce a model of a Kerr Stuart 'Victory' 0-6-0T locomotive, being one of my favourite loco's I started saving towards the cost, the models came  out a couple of years ago, I am still adding to the fund though the loco's are long paid for.

Jack Douglas - Don't Forget The Beer, Dear

I do not recall ever hearing this 1978 release, at the time of it's release I was working a lot of overtime and was not listening to the radio much, this copy was acquired in a job lot.

Car Troubles

On Wednesday after doing the shopping I went to start the car, turned the ignition and click, I thought Oh F**k, it's the same problem I had with the car while on holiday in July, I got my son to drive to the car park in his car, to see if we could jump start the car, I have a set of jump leads in the car from going out to jump start my sons car in the past, but no luck, I called the motoring organisation I belong to, they took my details and advised me there is a 2 hour wait for the mechanic, after about 20 minuet's the mechanic calls me he is on his way and where in the car park am I, he tries to jump start it but no luck, in the end he bump started it, I was told don't turn the engine off, I drove round to the dealers and managed to book it in, it was a failed starter motor, it was also found that I had a small leak from the thermostat housing I had that delt with at the same time, both parts had to be ordered in, so I though a wait of a couple of days, to my surprise I got a text the next day, 'your car is ready for collection'.

Apple Pie and Custard - Five Sisters

Though it says 1974 the record was issued in January 1975, there is some debate as to whether Apple Pie and Custard are a group or session singers? There is a second record buy this group issued in 1976.

Fred Dibnar - Age of Steam

This recording is not available on YouTube, a 1984 record was never intended to be issued, the information I have is, The record was produced to demonstrate the recording equipment and after the sales drive had finished the records were destroyed, however a few copies had been put in a filing cabined and were missed, when I saw this record advertised on eBay I thought that's a Robin record and put a bid in, from memory the record did not sell for much, I was expecting to get outbid, to date I have never seen another copy of this record.

Liverpool Scene - Son Son

At the time of release in 1968 I could not afford to buy this record at the time, by the time I had the money to buy it it had been deleted, I had hoped that a copy would turn up at one of the second hand record shops in the Arcade in Kingston (alas long gone), but I never found a copy, in 1969 there was a series of Pop Proms at the Royal Albert Hall starting June 29th, the first concert featured Liverpool Scene, Blodwyn Pig & Led Zeppelin, I had just started as an apprentice a few weeks before and had little money but I brought a ticket for the afternoon performance, they did not do Son Son, while there I was offered a ticket for the evening session, if I had brought it I would have had to walk home about 13 miles, and I didn't fancy that, after the concert I caught the Green Line Bus home, how many people remember Green Line Buses, the record remained in my memory for years. I was an early user of eBay I started my account to buy a fishing reel, but soon started buying records, I found one dealer who had acquired the vinal 45's from a number of American Radio Stations, I was getting the pick of the records as the type of records I was collecting, I was the only one buying them, this record had not surfaced at any of the Boot Sales so I put it on my wants list on eBay, a few months later a copy was listed, I put on my watch list and waited to put my bid in, on checking with couple of days to go on the auction it was well over what I was prepared to pay, the record went for just shy of £100, I didn't think I would ever own a copy at that price, a second copy came along in due course this sold in the £60 bracket, each successive copy made less, then one day a copy was listed with a start price of £3 with a No PayPal declaration, I thought that's the one to go for, I won the action for the start price.
There was a link from 45Cat to my recording of this record but was lost when the original blog was closed.

Miss Chuckle Cherry - My Pussycat

I'm not sure where I first came across this 1972 record, it may have been on a CD of reply songs, I think the copy used on the you Tube video is my copy as I am sure that my copy had writing on the "A" side, for my scan to be used I must have posted this on the original blog.
