Dawn Silver - Mommy I Like To Be

Released 1966, this copy was issued in Rhodesia now Zimbabwe, the reason I brought this record is it's a Tri-Centre, Decca had discontinued Tri-Centres in the UK by 1960, in South Africa & Rhodesia Decca was the predominant record manufacturer and produced Tri-Centres until the late 1960's, Decca also produced records under licence for other record companies such as EMI, Pye, Philips etc all as Tri-Centres.

Fishing at Goodrington Promenade

I was away in Goodrington Devon for most of he week, I gave up fishing on Monday evening as the wind was quite strong and blowing along the promenade making it unconfutable to fish, so I packed up after about one and a half hours, Tuesday evening the wind was still in the same direction, so I didn't other to go fishing,  Wednesday the wind had changed direction and the wind speed dropped, I got to the venue just after low tide, and managed to find a parking space close to the beach in one of the few roads with no parking restrictions, I set up my 2 rods one for bottom fishing the other with a float, for the first hour I just used the rod set up for bottom fishing, but no luck with that, I later put out the float at first nothing as the tide came in a few little knocks then the float went right under this time it was a nice sized Mackerel about half an hour later a second similar size to the first, that's tomorrows breakfast, more fish were caught they were given away or returned, I thought Thursday would be just as good but it was not to be, firstly the road with free parking there were no spaces and a number of people looking for spaces, on the way down I always make a note of any spaces parking spaces on the main road, there were some but it's a longer walk, I ended up parking on the main road, the walk takes me past two of the main car parks more about these later, there were a few people fishing when I got there, I fished from about 18.00 to 22.15 the sea was calm, very little wind however the fish were not biting, the evenings catch two very small Whiting, the Whiting do not normally show up until later in the year, on the way back to my car I noticed a car parked right behind the car park gate as I climbed the road to the bridge over the railway I saw three other cars in the car park, the two main car park close promptly at 22.00, almost daily there are complaints about cars being locked in, this is the reason I do not use the car park, the two other car parks are much smaller and do not close at night one is at the other end of the beach the other is next to the pub (too much temptation).

Saturday Morning Frustrations

One of the last photo's of Muffin.

Due to the hot weather I have been taking Biscuit for her morning walk between 05.00-06.00 to avoid the heat, I do the grocery shopping on a Saturday morning at 07.00, I needed to take out some cash as I will be away during the week, the first inconvenience the cash machine was empty, there are two cash machines (there used to be five) the second one dispenses Dollars or Euro's that one is never empty, as I do the shopping on my own I always use the self scan, as I got to the checkout area the people in front of me got rescans, my bad luck I got a rescan, this time it was a full rescan (first time ever), unpack all the items to be rescanned and then repacked, on the way home I called in at the Metro branch of the supermarket in the Village to use the cash machine, luckily this had cash, I entered my details and the amount I wanted to take out, it then came up with a message the maximum amount you can withdraw from this ATM is £250, I changed the amount to £250 but no luck, I retried entering £250 new message the maximum amount you can withdraw from this ATM is £237.24, interesting as the ATM has no facility to dispense coins, I ended up withdrawing £200, when I got back to the car I checked my balance etc. via my phone and wondered where the ATM's had got such strange details of my balance from.

Tingha &Tucker - Woomerang Boomerang

Released 1964 Tingha & Tucker were 2 Koala bear puppets featured in a TV series hosted by Jean Morton and broadcast early on a Sunday evening, the single appeared on the Pye label, there is also an LP this is on the collectable Century 21 label, it is one of the rarer LP's on this label, as it is a Children's record most copies that turn up are mullered, and copies in good condition command a premium price, as collectors want the record to complete the set of Century 21 L.P.'s.
I have a copy of the LP somewhere, when I was transferring tracks to a new drive I noticed I had downloaded it but not split it into separate tracks, if I recall I think I got the tracks mixed up, in the TV program Tingha & Tucker used to call Jean Moron 'Aunty Jean', my wife is known as Jean though it is not her real name.

Twizzle

This was the inspiration for todays post, a visit to Epsom today while waiting for the bus home I looked up and saw a toy impaled on the anti Pidgeon spikes, in the television series Twizzle escapes from the toy shop, unfortunately the peace was interrupted by a 'nutter' mouthing off very loudly about everything and nothing, luckily another person of similar ilk turned up and they were putting the world to right, thankfully my bus came, some of the other people at the bus stop were finding it quite amusing.

My copy of this 1958 record has lost its cover and has been dinked it is also not in the best of condition, it came from a Hook Road Arena Boot Sale a number of years ago, the stall owner said any thing left at the end of the Boot Sale would be going in the skip, I brought the record for 10p, when I got it home I cleaned the record, on playing the record, it played better than it looked, these late 50's early 60's records can take a lot of abuse and still play well.

A few days before I found this record I had put a bid on a copy of this record on eBay and had been out bid, from memory the record sold in the region of £35. Today the record and TV Series would banned from broadcast for being Politically Incorrect, one track springs to mind:- Frank Duncan Chawky The White-Faced Golly.
