Fishing Gosport 14/11/2024

The planned fishing trip from Gosport went ahead yesterday, it was not a pleasant journey down to Gosport, being foggy for almost the whole journey, but luckily the road works at the A3/M25 interchange had no delays at 05.15 in the morning but a different story on the return journey in the evening. Arriving at Gosport Marina the car park was almost empty, unusual as the car park was normally packed, the Marina had lots of complaints that users of the Marina were finding it difficult to park, it turned out that the Marina had the cheapest car parking and non Marina users were taking advantage of it, they had installed a new system, when leaving the marina you now have to go to the Marina Office and they process your ticket to give you the concessionary rate rather than a code to input into the ticket machine.
There were supposed to be 8 on the fishing trip, 2 had dropped in advance due to illness, 5 were there well before the 07.30 start time, we waited but the 6th person did not turn up, so with no sign of him the boat left, we expected a flurry of emails/phone calls but nothing, because of the wait when we arrived at the fishing area the tide had dropped to almost nothing so we were unable to drift for Bass, we moved spots and anchored up for slack water, during this time we caught a number of Blond Rays, as the tide picked up we went drifting for Bass wit lures, the Bass fishing was not prolific but steady and as there is a bag limit of 2 Bass per angler and this had bee reached it was decided to move to the Whiting grounds as we had plenty of bait, within minuets of anchoring the first Whiting was caught this would be the only whiting caught, the remainder of the trip was the proverbial Dogfish and strap Conger, the journey home I hit the rush hour and had delays, worst being as mentioned the A3/M25 but this was only a few minuets this time.
